Frequently Asked Questions
What prerequisites do I need to take this program?
This program is open to everyone with a strong interest
in organic land care. Students without a high school education and
a working proficiency in reading and writing English may require
more time to complete the program.
However, applicants without this level of prior education will
still benefit from access to the on-line text "Organic Land
Care - Working with Nature".
I already have a good grasp of organic horticultural practices.
Can I take only certain courses?
The information provided in all courses of this program
is closely integrated, and is presented in a logical progression.
Consequently the courses are not available individually. Students
who are primarily interested in the knowledge rather than a college
certificate may subscribe to the on-line text "Organic Land
Care - Working with Nature".
I feel uncomfortable sharing my assignments with everybody.
Can I submit them without having them posted on the web site?
This program is a co-operative learning experience. I think
you will find the other students to be supportive, and their comments
extremely helpful. Here is what one student has to say:
| "I have read ...the other ecology assignments with
great pleasure. All these different styles of presentation are
so diverse and stimulating. Posting them on the Wiki for everyone
to view is truly a great concept. I will keep exploring links
and documents for some time..." C. Nikolic |
Why are these courses offered over the Internet?
There is an urgent need for formal education in organic
practices around the world. On-line training makes this knowledge
available to anyone, anywhere, anytime. It is the most economical
and convenient way for students to obtain this information.
Currently we offer some classroom courses in British Columbia,
Canada. In the future we hope to enter into partnerships with more
educational institutes and other organizations to deliver our programs
in other parts of the continent.
